keybinding changes and camera panning polish

Hi everyone.

The new free camera that pans on WASD seems to agree with enough off you , that I've been polishing it for a bit.

Here's the changes

-camera now slowly resets to center when building something new or selecting another tower
-camera can now pan and rotate simultaneously
-camera rotation added to Q and E buttons
-floor up /floor down keys moved to 1 and 2 keys
-demolish moved to v key (to prevent issues with windows and steam overlay.

Hope this helps..

Experimental camera panning on WASD now live (I did listen)

I have heard the chorus of people that dislike being stuck to a single tower in build mode.
I even suspect many don't even make it to the surveyor flying mode that is meant to alleviate that.

But I have been trying all kinds of prototypes for a long time to get something working that works with the tower focused building system. That still allows for WASD camera motion across the screen.
I think I've found something,
it's not 100% perhaps what people expect, the camera is still tethered to the tower or surveyor, but the tether is now loose for a about a single screen (so you cannot pan and leave your selected tower, or surveyor out of view)

How it works:

-panning with WASD is now default, it's undocumented and experimental
-orbit now only on the MMB
- you cannot orbit and pan at the same time
-when you scroll down or zoom in, the pan resets itself to focus on your selected tower.
-panning is not supported on controller (tho I doubt controller users will miss it)
So two strong requests:
if you support this change, please please let me know in the comments, it's certainly a devation of the design vision and I need strong backup from everyone that had issues that yes this is going to alleviate your concerns. This has been strangely, and I guess hard to understand, a very hard mechanic to get to work. It also does mess up the building of balconies, cuz that's now very hard when you are panned away. But perhaps that's just the price of accesibility.

If you do not support this change, please please also let me know.

I will make this option available permanent, but if this panning is turned on or off by default is up to you!

Anyways it's live now..
It might cause a lot of bugs, I haven't been able to test it properly. But would like the nextfest players to experience this.

Let me know what's broken please..

to those new, this might feel like a minor update, but both technically, conceptually and in the forum history I think this is the nr1 topic around the game. so chime in please.

Kind regards,
Tomas

Nextfest cursor update

I've been secretely doing silent updates , most of these are small cursor updates for MKB.
making it smoother, more precise.. It hugs the terrain a little bit better now.

But tonite I also made it that if you switch between towers the cursor more or less stays put in the world. As if it's anchored to the spot you picked to build or move to.

This should feel a bit more 'stable'and calm.. it was quite erratic before.
minor change but hope it makes the experience smoother.

as always please report anything that feels like a bug..

 • fixed that a commander text was missing,,
 • added a new intro voice text by me
 • made it that the cursor doesn't jump about when switching towers or building new ones

Live Stream and Photo Mode

There is a lot happening in the Bulwark community in the next few days.

We are streaming live on the Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles home page as we enter the last weekend of the Steam Next Fest.

Join Community member ID_Xero on Friday 1800 PT / 2100 ET / Saturday 02:00 BST. Stop by and shoot the breeze with the goofy panda.

Then we have the big one.

Tomas Sala the games creator will be hosting the live stream on Saturday 06:00 PT / 09:00 ET / 14:00 BST. Make sure to jump on and talk all things Bulwark and Falconeer universe with him.

One of the other things we are looking at is the communities' love of the photo mode in the evolving demo. You can glide through and get some incredible cinematic shots within minutes of building your Bulwark.

We thought we would show you a few shots the community on our Discord have created:

Sana shows off the scale of one of the statues.

bad_egg gets into the nitty gritty of a settlement under a walkway.

Paul Rocha takes a moody sunset shot.

Riv shows a misty morning.

AntKingII with a closer look at a harbour community.

ID_Xero with a view from above.

As you can see. These shots are stunning and we can't wait to see how far the community can take this mode.
Join us over on Discord and show us your creative side.

If you haven't played the Evolving Demo yet. What are you waiting for? Also, make sure to wish list the game as it really helps us out with visibility.
