The Borealis Update

A new update for Primal Carnage: Extinction has been released! Version 1.13 comes with a brand new map to play on and a plethora of new items. Read all about it...
Welcome to The Borealis Facility
Located at the head of a glacier in the freezing arctic, Borealis is a secluded research and cloning facility with some dark secrets. We're thrilled to be officially adding the fourth community-created map to the game, another great environment by talented mapper Othello (who just keeps getting better and better!).

Borealis is built primarily to support Team Deathmatch, but you can expect Capture the Egg support in a future update. And of course, we'll soon be debuting a brand new map stamp for Borealis as well. Support the creator and get a special Necropolis Nova skin for your generosity!
Snowbound Makeover
As we're adding a new wintery map to the game, we have gone back and refined one of our oldest.

Snowbound has received a major layout overhaul, redesigned to have more open areas whilst also adding extra Tyrant blockers that the big boys will need to navigate around. Humans can no longer hunker down in one small hovel all the time, and must use the maze-like corridors through the level to their advantage in juking their scaley pursuers.

There's been a very positive response during our open beta tests so far, and we hope you'll enjoy this newly revamped version of Snowbound!
New Cosmetics
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
This update also includes dozens of new items to deck out your dinosaur or merc with. These range from a collection of cool new hats for humans, to several additional free drops to earn while playing, such as the Spino Search Taunt!

And if you missed out on our Saint Patrick's Event, the most sought-after items will be sticking around for one final week, as an extra chance to grab a dapper green tophat for your human or dinosaur.
PCE Version 1.13 Change Notes
-Added PC-Borealis map
-Overhauled PC-Snowbound map
-Increased health of Cryo slightly
-Reduced roar cooldown of Cryo from 47 secs to 30 secs
-Fixed characters sometimes looking like "ghosts" when low health vision effect is active

St. Patrick's Event

A new patch for Primal Carnage: Extinction is now available and we're running a special mini event!
Read on for all the juicy details, boyos..
It's easy being green.
Why celebrate the occasion for just one measly day, when there's seven in a week?
That's right, we're running a Saint Patrick's Event for the next 7 days in Primal Carnage: Extinction!

We've decked out the store in emerald finery, with a plethora of new fan-made items now available, from the beautifully ornate Knotted Netgun to the Paddy's Pride top hat, and two new taunts courtesy of our resident "fanimator" Waddigator.
Double Drop Week!
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

During the Saint Patrick's Event, players will receive double the regular amount of skin drops!
We've also added a bunch of new free drop items to obtain with this patch. Enjoy!
New Map Coming Soon!
Today's patch also lays some of the groundwork for the next major update coming very soon, which will include the fourth officially accepted community map for PCE! We have seen a hugely popular response to the Borealis map during testing, and are super excited for more people to get the chance to play in this creative new environment soon!

-With love,
The Primal Carnage Team

Art Contest Finale and Goodbye Santa

This week we bid farewell to winter as our special month-long event comes to a close (yeah yeah, it's not year-long this time!). We have a bunch of new gameplay adustments, bugfixes and cosmetics being added with today's update, but first, something special...

The Winter Art Contest Is Over!

The community has been bursting with creativity this past week during the second official art contest. We've been astounded by the quality and volume of the submissions that have been sent in, with a wide range of styles and scenes all based loosely around the theme of "Primal Winter Adventure"!

In fact, we arranged a tour of through the Phoenix Gallery to show all the great pieces we've received..

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
And the winners are...?
The response to this contest has been amazing and it was truly difficult deciding on who would walk away with a prize. But after much deliberation, here are the winning entries..
Third Place Winner: Liraelwolf
Bold and colourful, this confrontation between the Pathfinder and T.Rex is the most dramatic of the scenes here- a classic depiction of desperation as he tries to escape by blinding his attacker. We love the dynamism, it feels almost like a panel from a graphic novel!
Second Place Winner: Noctalos
A mysterious vision of a faraway atrium, with escaped predators following a blood trail to their next meal. We really responded to the atmosphere of this one, the foggy feeling and moody lighting is top notch, it's an incredibly impressive illustration!
First Place Winner: ShufflePlay
This breathtaking piece perfectly encapsulates the theme of "adventure". We were simply stunned when we saw this. Featuring great composition, style and storytelling.. it honestly presents Primal Carnage how we'd always felt about it our hearts. Excellent work!
Honorable Mentions
Here are some of our other favourites, all of them great pieces that really stood out to us when we were looking through the entrants. They may not have made it to the top row, but the passion and fun their creators had shines through... (click images to enlarge)

Thanks again to everyone who took part!

We will be reaching out to the winners about their prizes soon, and hope that we see you all for the next contest. We're definitely planning to run more of these in future! And we'll give you a little more time to finish probably, considering some of our winning pieces were handed in at the eleventh hour!

Store Update

With the end of the Winter Event we have a fresh new rotation of items being added to the store today, along with some great deals you can find under the Specials tab! We're featuring T-Rexes and Tupas this week, with several new designs available and a special character pack for our flying fiend.

We're also keeping a few festive faves in-store for the time being. These "encore items" include the 2019 Winter Gift, Wendigo Pathfinder, Cold Fire Novaraptor and the wildly popular Festive Antlers. They won't stick around forever though, so act fast if you want to get yours!

Winter Wrap-up

We're now in the fourth and final week of the Extinction Winter Event, which means another set of cool new items is now live. Don't forget to check out the latest lineup and fire sale before the event is over! Who knows when they'll return?

The response to the winter event has been incredible, it's great to see that even after five years, we still have a dedicated community supporting the game. And not just playing, but producing content every day that never fails to amaze and inspire us.

You guys are the best!

From awesome shots in the screenshots section to workshop maps to skins, it just never ends. I'm not saying the community is starting to make better stuff than we do...because I want to keep my job...but it's err close. Yeah.

But forget that thought, check out this small sample of amazing stuff the community's been up to lately!

Also - while winter isn't *quite* over yet, it looks like there's a clear winner for which Workshop item was most popular... it's definitely going to be the Cold Fire Novaraptor. Congrats to the skin's creator, BBQ!

Trello Update!

A long time ago we used Trello as a method of projecting a roadmap to the community as well as a place to showcase the in-game items we have available. Unfortunately there was a period where it stopped getting updated and eventually it was abandoned. Not anymore! Now it's completely up to date and will soon have a new public roadmap. Certain events will have pages here as well.

Check out the landing page for the new Trello here.

Happy hunting! And once again, thank you to our wonderful community!
