Update v3.05

[p]We’ve released update v3.05.[/p][p]The changes are as follows:

[/p][p]-In ship interiors, on planets, and during event dialogues, we have added on-screen prompts indicating that you can flip pages left and right using the A and D keys.[/p][p](The left and right arrow keys also still work as before.)[/p][p]Due to undesirable behavior caused by using the spacebar for button operations, we’ve changed these operations to use the C key instead.[/p][p]Specifically, the following changes were made from v3.04 → v3.05:[/p]
  • [p]Start Screen: Hold Space to start → Hold C to start[/p]
  • [p]Ship Interior / Dialogue Screen: Hold Space to propose HEX action → Hold C to propose HEX action[/p]
  • [p]Ship Interior / Map Screen: Press Space to navigate → Press C to navigate[/p]
  • [p]Planet / Route Screen: Press Space to initiate combat → Press C to initiate combat[/p]
  • [p]Ending Screen: Hold Space to exit → Hold C to exit[/p]
[p]For all other controls, please refer to the previous update article titled “Departure.”

-When the current cargo weight is less than 0.1 WG but greater than 0.0 WG, the UI would display it as 0.0 WG, which felt unnatural.[/p][p]This has now been fixed so that any value under 0.1 WG is always displayed as 0.1 WG.

-In Dog &Wolf, once the girl’s name has been revealed in the story, her name will now be displayed consistently thereafter.

Additionally, we are aware of a known issue where if there is no ongoing conversation and you switch away from the “Conversation” tab inside the ship, the tab may not properly disappear.[/p][p]We haven’t fully isolated the cause yet, but we now have a better sense of when this issue occurs, and we hope to fix it in the next update.[/p][p][/p]

Departure

[p]"Cold Bed on Route" Steam Release Now Available! The initial release version is v3.04. You can check the version at the bottom-right corner of the title screen.[/p][p]A DLC art book is also available. This is the 5th edition, and the edition number is listed on the colophon (final page) of the book.[/p][p]The original title of Cold Bed on Route is 霜夜ゆく (Soya Yuku).

[/p][p]🔹 Upcoming Plans[/p][p]For the foreseeable future, we are planning the following updates and adjustments:[/p][p]\[Priority: High][/p][p]↑[/p][p]Bug fixes[/p][p]UI adjustments[/p][p]Balance adjustments for Between Dog & Wolf[/p][p]Mobile version update[/p][p]Controller support[/p][p]↓[/p][p]\[Priority: Low]

[/p][p]🔹 Bug Reports[/p][p]We've created a \[バグ報告/Bug Report] thread in the Community Discussions section. Posting your reports there will help us notice them more quickly. You can write in either Japanese or English.[/p][p]Although it's labeled as a bug report thread, if you find anything that's confusing in the UI or difficult to control, we consider those as practical bugs as well. Please feel free to report such issues in the same thread.

[/p][p]🔹Known Bugs[/p][p]The following bugs are present as of version v3.04:[/p][p]Music and jingles may occasionally play slightly later than expected.[/p][p]→ This is scheduled to be adjusted.[/p][p]Progress does not occur even though the displayed weight or remaining time shows as 0.0.[/p][p]→ It appears that internal values between 0.05 and 0.00 are being rounded and displayed as 0.0. While the system is supposed to round up in these cases, it isn’t working correctly. We will adjust it so that as long as the internal value is still positive, it will display as 0.1.

[/p][p]🔹 About Sales[/p][p]Although the Steam Summer Sale will begin soon after the release, this title will not be discounted during that event.[/p][p]This is because the Release Sale (10% off) will already be ongoing during the Summer Sale period. The release discount will remain in effect for that duration.[/p][p]Future sales may occur irregularly under the following circumstances, but please note that they are not guaranteed—we tend to forget:[/p][p]During major sales other than the 2025 Summer Sale, especially when there's a fun or fitting date[/p][p]Around the release of a new game or port[/p][p]When participating in special events

[/p][p]🔹 Keyboard Controls[/p][p]While only mouse controls are explained in-game as the primary method, we’ve experimentally added keyboard controls as well.[/p][p]This is part of preliminary testing in preparation for controller support. Therefore, keyboard controls are currently not documented in the game and do not cover all mouse-based operations—they are supplemental only.[/p][p]As of v3.04, the following keyboard inputs are supported:[/p][p](Arrow keys correspond to \[WASD], but not vice versa.)[/p][p]Event Dialogues – All Modes[/p][p]\[Left/Right]: Progress/back through dialogue[/p][p]\[Down]: Close dialogue[/p][p]Action Result – All Modes[/p][p]\[Down]: Close result panel[/p][p]Start Screen[/p][p]\[Hold Space]: Start game[/p][p]Ship Interior[/p][p]\[Left/Right]: Switch between tabs[/p][p]In the Conversation tab:[/p][p]\[Up]: Backlog[/p][p]\[Hold Space]: Propose HEX action[/p][p]Item tab: Not supported[/p][p]Map tab:[/p][p]\[Q/E]: Change distance[/p][p]\[Hold Space]: Fly[/p][p]Log tab: No operations supported[/p][p]Memo tab: Not supported[/p][p]Planet Surface[/p][p]\[Left/Right]: Switch between tabs[/p][p]Route tab:[/p][p]\[W]: Go[/p][p]\[Q]: Detour[/p][p]\[Space]: Battle[/p][p]\[R]: Run[/p][p]\[E]: Prey[/p][p]\[S]: Rest[/p][p]Other tabs: Not supported or have no assigned actions[/p][p]Ending[/p][p]\[Left/Right] to switch between ship and planet views (only while on a planet)[/p][p]\[Up]: Show backlog[/p][p]\[Hold R] to rewind (only if rewind is available)[/p][p]\[Hold Space]: End game[/p][p][/p]

Cold Bed on Route launches on June 21st

[p]This article serves as an announcement that the equation-based adventure game "Cold Bed on Route" will be released on Steam on June 21. It also aims to explain what kind of game this is for first-time players, and how it differs from the mobile version for those who have already played it.

[/p][h2]For First-Time Players[/h2][p]This game is an equation-based, roguelite, sci-fi adventure inspired by Tom Godwin’s The Cold Equations. It was first released for iOS in 2021 and later made available on both iOS and Android in 2022. The Steam version is a port of those mobile editions for PC.[/p][p]The basic gameplay revolves around managing resources while trying to uncover the game’s various endings. Each playthrough tends to be short, and although failure is part of the experience, what you learn carries over to future runs—so feel free to experiment in different ways.[/p][p]

While the story takes initial inspiration from The Cold Equations, as mentioned above, the gameplay system was strongly influenced by Kaichō, the winner of the 5th “Punge” (a free game contest for 3-minute games of Japan)—or at least, that’s what we believe.

[/p][p][/p][h2]For Those Who’ve Already Played the Mobile Version[/h2][p]The core gameplay—where and how you acquire resources, the different endings, and the conditions required to reach them—remains unchanged from the mobile version.[/p][p]Here are the main updates and differences:[/p]
  • [p]New Bonus Content "Between the Dog and the Wolf" is included. After lighting the lamp, you can switch to this content from the upper-right corner of the start screen. It’s a very short (10–15 minutes) side story, separate from the main game.[/p]
  • [p]Adjusted layout for PC’s widescreen aspect ratio. The main information is still centered, but certain screens now display additional information on the sides.[/p]
  • [p]Background music in ship mode now loops twice. It plays normally at first, then at half volume, followed by ambient sound.[/p]
  • [p]BGM is now in stereo on the PC version. The mobile version had all sound recorded in mono due to file size constraints, but PC allows for larger file sizes, so BGM is upgraded accordingly.[/p]
  • [p]A rare save corruption bug seen on mobile (occasionally) has likely been fixed. The problem was assumed to be caused by overly redundant save data not processing in time, so we simplified the save handling and ensured it completes properly.[/p]
  • [p]If you’ve purchased the bonus materials DLC on Steam, you can now open it from within the game. It doesn’t open inside the game interface, but rather launches your PDF viewer directly.[/p]
  • [p]The English translation has been significantly revised from the ground up. Though the translation is still amateur work, it’s hopefully improved to some extent.[/p]
  • [p]Other minor tweaks have been made throughout. While most won’t be visibly noticeable, if anything feels off, feel free to leave a comment somewhere—it might be fixable.[/p][p] [/p]
[p]Lastly, the Steam version (v3.X.X) will eventually be updated to the mobile versions as well. While some aspects, like widescreen support, may not carry over, the "Between the Dog and the Wolf" content will be available on mobile in the future.

That’s all for now. Details about future updates will be announced in a post-launch article.[/p]
