Early access - v0.31.2

Hello folks,

I've been working on the v0.31.2 for few days now, and it is time to release it.
So what's new in this minor version?

You can now offer money to unlock a platform! And a lot of money, so watch out before offering 10m to unlock a platform!

You can also delete old game engines and there few QOL improvements.
Im gonna keep working on the v0.31.3, so manufacturers will offer you exclusivity for your best games.

Anyway, if you want to know all the changes, you can either read the Changelog or just launch City Game Studio and start playing.

Cheers

1983 crash, negotiations with console manufacturers

Hello world!

4 months have passed since the last update, and I apologize for the delay.
Usually I publish one major update per month or every two months on average.
However these last months have not been like the others, for those who follow me on Twitter or who are on the Discord server, as you already know, I've moved to another country. that is why the development of City Game Studio slowed down.

The good news is that I was able to resume the development. Well it's end-of July already, and as promised here is the 0.31.0 update. So today on the menu we have...
Negotiating with the manufacturers
Previously unlocking a game console was straightforward. Simply click on the console and it was all done. From now on, you'll have to negotiate with the manufacturer. The more you work with a manufacturer, the easier the negotiations will be. Of course, the opposite is also true.
The crash of 1983
The first few years in City Game Studio are incredibly easy. To reflect reality, I introduced the video game crisis of 1983. It impacts the first two generations of consoles, which means that from 1983 on, to make profit you'd have to negotiate with a manufacturer.

The 1983 crash has no exact date, it can start in January as well as in December. This suggestion made by Zarys helps to extend the life of the game.
Developing games on upcoming consoles
Many of you have requested this feature, and now you can develop games for consoles that are not yet available. This involves negotiating with console manufacturers, and it makes City Game Studio much more lively.
Choose the release date
This is another request from the community. And from now on you will be able to choose when to publish a game. This comes in handy when you want to synchronize game ports. And it allows you to better manage the marketing campaign.

Now you can start porting a non-released game. However, you can develop game port only for ready games.

There are still many other changes, and for all of them you can either launch the game or read the full list of changes.

I hope you like it, feel free to join our Discord to talk about it with us!

Cheers

Early access 0.30.2

Good morning, everyone,

Many of you have sent messages of encouragement and thanks and I thank you very much for your support! This sudden visibility brought about by Domingo gives a certain boost to the development of the game. A big thank you to him and to the entire community that follows him!

Without further ado, here is an overview of the changes that have appeared in the last 72 hours.
QOL improvements
A ranking of the best companies is now available via a simple click. This will allow you to better target the competitors you want to overtake.

When creating new games, selecting specialists has proven to be tedious in previous versions. From now on with a simple click you will be able to withdraw a specialist and assign him to the game being created.

As usual I describe here only the biggest changes, if you want to know more, you can either launch the game or read the Changelog. I hope you will like this update, and join us on discord to talk about it!

Cheers

 • History panel: If a sequel exists, replace the "Create sequel" button by "Open sequel" button.
 • Competitor: Add a panel that lists all the competitors (you included)
 • Specialists: Can withdraw a specialist with a single click
Bugfix
• History panel: Cannot create a sequel if the game has been canceled
 • History panel: Better feedback on game capacities

Lootboxes, microtransactions and advertising

Good morning, everyone,

Version 0.30.0 has been deployed yesterday but I wanted to describe the biggest changes with you.

This version introduces new ways to monetize your games. You can sell your games in a conventional way, i.e. with a purchase price or a monthly subscription, and now you can make free to play games and get paid through advertising or microtransactions. The revenues are lower, but your fanbase will grow faster.
Lootboxes, microtransactions and advertising
Beside to advertising revenue, you can also add microtransactions. Three types of microtransactions are available. Cosmetics, which long-time players enjoy. New players love power boosts. And then there are the lootboxes. You decide what's in these lootboxes. You can put in power boosts as well as cosmetics.
More charts
In order to help you make your games more profitable, a new financial details panel has appeared. It allows you to keep track of your players, but also to know how much advertising or microtransactions have brought you back.

As usual I describe here only the biggest changes, if you want to know more, you can either launch the game or read the Changelog. I hope you will like this update, and join us on discord to talk about it!

Cheers
