Turn up the Heat with Punishment Mode

[h2]Time to turn up the heat as Punishment mode is now available! [/h2]

There’s no rest for the wicked. Take up the mantle once more and return to the heavens for the game’s biggest update since launch!

In Punishment Mode step into a remixed, refreshed second run-through of Heaven with tougher combat and new challenges. Expect to fight bigger, stronger versions of familiar foes with enhanced abilities, and the bosses have picked up a few new tricks, too. Worse still, they’ve shared some of their power with their minions; players will find miniature (but still deadly) copies of the Archangels leading enemy squads out in the realm.

It’s not all pain and suffering here, to ease the sting and even up the odds a little, Punishment Mode moves many upgrade shrines and item boxes can be found near the beginning of Lucifer’s adventure, getting him back up to speed and ready to tackle these new threats.
If you’re returning - we hope you’ll find many quality-of-life improvements made since your last rampage through the pearly gates, including a new map system added in our last update, making traversing the heavens easier than ever before.

[h3]Punishment Mode - Detailed Breakdown: [/h3]
  • Accessible once players beat the game on normal difficulty.
  • All regular enemies may appear as larger, stronger versions of themself in the world
  • Some bosses may appear as smaller, weaker versions of themself in the world
  • Punishment hollows become immune to flinching and gain a lot of health
  • Punishment cherubs cannot be interrupted during attacks and travel faster
  • Punishment cavemen can knock down lucifer with their clubs and revive themselves
  • Punishment flame angels can shoot multiple fireballs and their explosions can hit players in the air
  • Punishment lancers are capable of striking faster depending on their color
  • Punishment tank angels will attack faster and recover from damage faster as well
  • Punishment archive drones are more aggressive and more likely to shoot at a distance
  • Punishment temple monitors can fire multiple shots in a short period of time before overheating
  • Punishment knight angels are significantly more aggressive when attacking
  • Punishment priest angels will heal other angels from farther away and run away faster
  • Punishment seraphim travel far faster
  • Punishment blade angels cannot lose their blades and fire more projectiles
  • Punishment shield angels cannot lose their shield, but attacks that used to shatter their shield will still penetrate their new and improved shields
  • Punishment tentacle angels can travel farther when biting and their projectile attack now homes in on lucifer
  • Punishment valkyries give less warning before attacking and fly towards the ground faster
  • Punishment Abdiel can hit players in the air, teleport faster, and will not stop his projectile attack until he takes damage
  • Punishment Nebuch can also hit players in the air
  • Punishment Akrasiel is less predictable and fires more shots with his gun
  • Punishment Azrael is more evasive and his worm becomes much more dangerous
  • Punishment Celestial Titan is more agile, resists a portion of damage dealt to his chest, and tries to shoot off anyone attacking his chest
  • Punishment El Cid's Tizona attack spreads out away from him
  • Punishment Gabriel's projectiles can break off into smaller pieces, he no longer prays at his shrines, and the destruction of his shrine exhausts him less
  • Punishment Michael is more willing to use ranged attacks, has improved damage with sword attacks, and enters his second phase earlier
  • Punishment Olaf is able to run around and dodge attacks significantly faster than before
  • Punishment Ophanim spends more time on each attack and has less downtime between each attack
  • Punishment Ramiel recovers from the destruction of her supercomputers faster, uses melee attacks more frequently, and can aim her laser faster
  • Punishment Ramiel's drones try harder to avoid melee attacks and attack more frequently
  • Punishment Raphael flees from melee attacks much faster and has faster shockwave attacks
  • Punishment Uriel will rampage more often and become more dangerous while doing so; she will also be willing to use her nuke attack immediately
  • Punishment Metatron has the same behavior, but their arena changes into new, dangerous patterns frequently throughout the fight
  • Punishment Ha'Satan continues to learn new tricks and try new strategies after every duel
  • Additionally, upgrade shrines and item boxes will be rearranged in Punishment Mode to be at the start of the game, allowing the player to be fully upgraded early

We wanted to share a quick update on our newest feature and modes to come real soon.

First off we have added a map system for convenience. This new feature is found within the travel menu. We hope this will help players have a better understanding of where they are and where they should go next.

[h3]Turbo Mode: (Coming Soon) [/h3]
In Turbo Mode, challenge time itself by controlling the speed modifier that goes from 0.75x to 1.5x. You’ll be able to increase or decrease the speed of the game to your liking. This setting affects spells and attacks, movement, along with your foes’ attack speeds.

[h3]Punishment Mode: (Coming Soon) [/h3]
What you can expect to experience while playing Punishment Mode will include distortion of visual changes from the normal mode along with enemy modifiers. Regular enemies will appear larger and be stronger versions of themselves; while some bosses will appear smaller and weaker. Additionally, upgrade shrines and item boxes will be rearranged in Punishment Mode to be at the start of the game, allowing the player to be fully upgraded early.

[h3]Challenge Mode: [/h3]
While playing in challenge mode, you’re able to toggle one or multiple challenge modes to modify your journey through the pearly gates as Lucifer. In these challenge modes, you can adventure into the realms of heaven without upgrades, weapons, and even attempt at fighting the odds with your own personal ironman challenge with permadeath. Discover your new way to punish Heaven’s minions as well as yourself.

[h3]Boss Rush Mode: [/h3]
Test your angelic and demonic skills against the game’s bosses and compete on the global leaderboards. At the start of a new game, players are able to activate Boss Rush Mode. Prior to each boss fight, you can expect to find three randomized loot chests to aid you in battle. Additionally, you’ll have the option to face all the bosses in story-mode order or randomized for an extra thrill. After raising havoc to Heaven, find out on the leaderboards if you’re the fastest Lucifer around.

Hellacious New Modes

Hey everyone,

[h3]Excited to share that Heaven has become even more menacing with new game modes along with several other minor updates have landed! [/h3]

Those looking to up the ante of difficulty in Lucifer’s Old Testament-worthy crusade can try out the newly introduced Challenge Modes. Toggle one or multiple challenges modes to modify your journey through the pearly gates. From going without upgrades to fighting without weapons and the unforgiving permadeath, players can find new ways to punish Heaven’s minions as well as themselves.

Releasing alongside Challenge Modes is Boss Rush Mode where players can test their angelic and demonic skills against the game’s bosses and compete for their spot on the global leaderboards. At the start of a new game, players are able to activate Boss Rush Mode. Players will be given three loot chests with randomized items, upgrades, and consumables before each boss. They’ll then have the option to face all the game’s bosses in story order or take their chances with a random rotation. After bringing a beat down of biblical proportions to all bosses, players’ times will be posted on the leaderboards.

[h2]What’s Coming?[/h2]
We’re currently working on a “Punishment” mode that will twist the world’s visuals and enemies for a brand new, even more, challenging experience! Stay tuned for more to come.

-Adjusted Inventory to make it easier to see the number of items held
-Fixed drop tables for enemies found around the levels so they drop the proper items on death
-Fixed bug where custom input could make gamepad controls wrong
-Fixed bug where trying to change input without a gamepad connected would crash the game
-Fixed text spacing problems relating to the skill tree and upgrades in Japanese and Chinese versions
-Melee attacks with upgraded range will no longer cause Lucifer to recoil when hitting a wall
-Speculative fix where NPCs that sit too close together prevent Mary from being interactable.
-Fixed bug with Akrasiel’s music not stopping when the player dies.
-Fixed co-op bug involving lodging in the intro level

Fallen Angel 1.0.2 Patch Notes

[h2]Oct. 20-23[/h2]
-Save points now reset if they move off-screen, so you no longer need to leave the area and return to save
-Fast travel no longer respawns enemies if you choose to travel to your current location
-You can now dash out of melee attacks at any point during the animation
-Using the right stick to aim attacks will now give visual feedback
-You can now use the dash to pass through enemies
-The puzzle in the Cyberpunk Garden now hints that you need to use your inventory to solve it
-Harder enemies now guard the harder areas connected to the Cradle of Man
-Cradle of Man is now easier to navigate
-Demon time activation effect now applies to bone of the prophets and Azrael's godframe
-Players now get double stamina in co-op mode
-John no longer needs non-hostile angels around him to be dead before he feels safe talking to you
-Ramiel's supercomputers should now be damaged by explosions correctly
-Volume will now be set to 50% when the game is launched for the first time
-Tizona’s Fire trail damage has been nerfed from 1 to 0.5.
-Collision improved in multiple ways
-Dying to Abdiel now causes fewer mobs to spawn before the rematch
-Fixed bug where Abdiel would not pause after a melee attack
-Fixed bug where you could get the Twisted Ankles achievement without actually doing anything
-Fixed bug where Nebuchadnezzar would get stuck on the edge of his arena
-Fixed bug where elevators would get stuck
-Fixed bug where a sound could continue playing permanently if killed during Ramiel's fight
-Fixed bug where Ramiel's drones sometimes wouldn't look at the correct spot
-Fixed bug where demon time would be shorter at higher FPS
-Fixed bug where the Cradle of Man elevator would move faster at higher FPS
-Fixed bug where the Healing Core UI animation would spin faster at higher FPS
-Fixed bug where tentacle angels would move faster at higher FPS
-Speculative fix where Metatron's phase 3 sometimes makes the hands unable to receive damage

-Added the ability to rebind keyboard controls and gamepad controls!
-Loading times have been reduced significantly!
-Purgatory elevator’s activation hitbox has been doubled

Lush gardens, cyberpunk nightclubs, and even stranger realms await, with brutal boss battles that reimagine the tales of the Old Testament and plunge you into a “Paradise Lost” epoch filled with unrelenting waves of Heaven’s residents looking to cast the Fallen Angel out once more.

[h2]About the Game[/h2]
Fallen Angel is a symphony of pixel art and demon-fuelled action. Fallen Angel blends melee and ranged combat in a fast-paced pixel action RPG with boss battles to spare. Battle angelic armies and ascend through weird and warped holy realms and claim vengeance. Set in a world inspired by the Old Testament, biblical apocrypha and more than a little modern style, the many realms of Heaven are a strange and varied place.

Lucifer won’t just be slicing his way through pearly gates and angelic choirs, but strange high-tech constructs, idyllic earth-like plains, cyberpunk nightclubs, floating islands, and more. Each archangel will possess a strong, thematic influence on the environments and creatures the player will encounter.
