EA Update 0.1.8 is live – Merchants, farming, combat and more

[h2]Update 0.1.8 is now live for Earth of Oryn.[/h2]



This update focuses on stability, clarity and deeper gameplay systems.
It includes major fixes, performance improvements and reworks of merchants, farming,
tooltips, placement and combat.

Merchants and economy
• Improved merchants logic and smarter arrival behavior
• Merchants now come from different civilizations
• Clearer merchant intentions shown in tooltips
• Fixed infinite delivery loops between storage market and manufacture
• Higher building costs for better balance
• Building navmesh is now updated only once construction is finished

Farming and plants rework
• Harvest fields are reused after crops are collected
• New plant rendering with visible growth stages
• Fixed plant rendering on slopes
• Lower yield per plant for improved balance
• Farmers can now take seeds from storage if needed
• Farms stop creating new tasks from autumn to winter
• New food market and required technology added

Interface and tooltips
• Large tooltip rework across buildings trees and rocks
• Tooltips now show current task state errors and research progress
• Dynamic stat tooltips with growth and decay modifiers
• Short delay added before most tooltips to reduce clutter
• No tooltip overlap with bottom menus

Placement camera and controls
• Improved building placement using footprint center
• Fixed placement getting stuck on specific axis
• Improved camera controls with combined inputs
• Smoother camera movement and better performances
• Placement seed key changed from Exclaim to F
You may need to reset your preferences

Combat and events
• Improved combat AI
• Larger hitboxes for military units
• More impact sound variations
• Tutorial raid is now an event with clear timing and indicators
• Visual and audio alerts for critical events

Additional fixes and improvements
• Resolution selection reworked
• Crash reporting tool added
• Tutorial navigation improvements
• Many stability and rendering fixes

The day has finally arrived, Earth of Oryn just launched into Early Access!

If you are considering buying the game, please note:
This is an early version of the game, and it's currently available in English only.
While the core gameplay is in place, many systems are still incomplete or experimental. Early Access exists so the game can grow with player feedback, at a realistic and sustainable pace. Expect rough edges, iteration, balance changes, and systems that evolve over time.

The game will be released in early access on Steam on January 19th, 2026.

Earth of Oryn has been in development for several years as a solo project. Over time, it grew into a deep, systems-driven city builder focused on simulation, atmosphere, and long-term management. As the project evolved, its scope and complexity increased significantly and early access is now the most honest and realistic way to move forward.

This release is not about presenting a finished product, but about opening the game up, letting players experience it in its current state, and continuing development in a transparent and sustainable way.

What early access means for Earth of Oryn

The Early Access version represents the foundation of the game.

Core systems, world simulation, and the overall direction are in place, but the game is not feature-complete yet. Content is limited compared to the long-term vision, and several major systems are still planned for future updates.

To avoid any confusion, everything that is currently implemented as well as what is not available yet is described on the store page. I strongly encourage you to read it carefully so expectations are fully aligned before jumping in.

Early access is about building on this foundation step by step, guided by player feedback and real-world playtesting.
