Damned 2 Update - 0.4.2166

Hi everyone!

Today we have the second patch following all the feedback gathered during our public playtest. This update focus on gameplay balance and some rework to Mary's gameplay along with optimizations and general bug fixing.

Changelog

Mary Rework:
  • Cry Out skill has been remade into Mental Trace. This new skill temporarily teleports Mary near a survivor to localize them and gain some energy. The cooldown remain the same, with a 4-second duration.
  • Mind Reach now pulls the nearest survivor, making it easier to use. It no longer goes on cooldown when possessing an object.
  • Haunting will no longer close doors directly in front of Mary.
  • Increased energy gain when a survivor is very close by 1200%.
  • Reduced transformation time from 2 seconds to 1 second.
  • Increased the distance of Blink while Haunting from 250 to 350 units.
  • Decreased the speed of Blink while Haunting by 30%.
  • Increased ground friction while walking by 14%.
  • Increased the number of possessable objects available when leaving Berserk mode by 75%.
  • Mary’s AI difficulty has been slightly increased.
  • Mary’s AI will only enter Berserk mode when a survivor is seen.
  • Destroying Dolls now grants 66% more energy.
  • Dolls now affect the survivor’s vision and speed for a few seconds when destroyed.
  • Mary’s music will only play for survivors when their actions impact her energy gain.
  • Increased passive energy regeneration while Haunting by 20%.
Lurker:
  • Removed all feedback of energy changes for survivors.
  • Increased the frequency at which the AI uses Shadow Dance at Normal and Hard difficulties.
  • Increased the stun duration of Fool's Trap from 0.5 seconds to 1 second.
  • Updated Prey Tracker and Ethereal Sense effects:
  • Ethereal Sense (Passive skill) now reduces a small amount of sanity when a survivor passes by while invisible.
  • Lurker loses half of his energy after hitting a survivor when only 1 survivor remains.
Balance Changes:
  • Improved monster vision when visible.
  • Reduced survivor downed time by 50% when only one survivor is alive.
  • Decreased the frequency of the Heart sanity effect by 50% and added an effect when sanity drops below 5%.
Interface:
  • Added the actual voice volume bar back.
  • Added a tutorial test in the lobby to help players find customization options.
  • The game will now return to the lobby after it ends.
  • The End Game interface button now sends everyone back to the lobby, while clients leave the game.
  • Added new visuals for the loading bar in-game.
  • The Subtitles option now turns off subtitles inside the game when pointing at objects.
  • Added a list of all seeds used in the Cheat Interface (Ctrl+F6).
Sound:
  • Changed the sound for Fool's Trap.
  • Adjusted the volume of some possessed object activations.
Game Options:
  • Changed game options Game Help "Low" and "No Help" to not display item names in the inventory.
  • Renamed the game option Puzzle Scatter to Scattered Puzzles.
  • Increased the chance of selecting different rooms for Scattered Puzzles.
  • Changed Presets so they no longer alter the map and AI monster selection.
Fixes:
  • Optimized map loading.
  • Optimized effects involving a large number of actors.
  • Optimized offscreen interface calculations.
  • Fixed the chance of large items spawning in small spaces.
  • Fixed issues where door names would only update when unlocked.
  • Fixed Mary AI creating Dolls that pointed to walls.
  • Fixed Mary continuing to gain energy from a very close survivor.
  • Fixed Mary entering Berserk mode instantly at Damnation difficulty.

Damned 2 Update - 0.4.2147

Hi everybody!

Today we have the first update since the Playtest. This one is kind of small in terms of features, but very impactful, mainly because of the fixes and improvements to the gameplay systems, such as voice chat and networking.

After that, we will be doing a gameplay overhaul for Mary. We have collected A LOT of feedback on Mary and will be improving her gameplay and abilities. Lurker seems to be in a good position, but some balancing will also affect him, as requested by our community.

A new level is still under construction and I will be able to release some screenshots soon. Since it is a completely new environment (not a hotel), it takes time to build it, mainly because I'm the only one working on it. I have become the bottleneck!

The new monster is also in progress, its mechanics and abilities are almost ready, but we have not tested it yet, and its 3D model is already in an advanced state. Matt Collins has already made some really cool music tracks for it. Oh! And new survivors are also on the horizon, the new 3D model for Lilly is amazing, I can't wait for you to see it. She inherited a bit of her mother's style ;).

  • Added a new Game Option "Number Of Puzzles" to set the number of puzzles found from 0 to 4.
  • Added a new Game Option "Lost Valves" to make 2 valves spawn in random rooms.
  • Added a new Game Option "Puzzle Scatter" that makes all puzzle codes and decoders spread through the map.
  • Added a new Game Option "Lost Puzzle Items" where all items created by puzzles are in rooms that come before the puzzles. Ignores the last puzzle.
  • Added a new Game Option "No Getting Up" for survivors to only get up with the help of other survivors. Lose when all are downed.
  • Added a new Game Option "Game Help" that decreased the number of interfaces, messages, and help from the game to increase immersion. Default, Low, and No Help are added as options, Low is based on original Damned interface.


Balance
  • Reduced Sanity loss when trying to open a locked door by 40%.
Maps
  • Increased the size of all bathroom stalls.
  • Decrease the chance of survivors finding keys too fast when entering a new room.
Voice Chat
  • Complete remade voice chat system.
Interface
  • Added Preset Options on the Game Options. Default, Damned 1, Puzzled and Impossible added. (Give us some suggestions!)
  • Added option to toggle or hold the voice chat.
  • Added option to search for all lobbies worldwide.
  • Added map in use at the seed.
  • Battery and Sanity bars now are always visible when they are 30% or lower.
  • Improved Game Options visibility.

  • Fixed Ghosts being able to go inside the Image Puzzle.
  • Fixed Mary's Dolls not spawning after some time.

🎮 Damned 2 Technical Playtest Announcement! 🎮

We are excited to announce our Technical Playtest for Damned 2, which will take place from August 2nd to August 4th!

To ensure your access to the playtest, simply click the Request Access button on the game's Steam page. This is an incredible opportunity to experience the game firsthand and help us improve it!

In this playtest, you'll have access to two finished maps: Hotel Rose Crimson and Alba's Motel, as well as two of our currently finished monsters: Lurker and Mary (with more to come!)

Our goal with this playtest is to gather valuable feedback on the gameplay and identify any technical issues that may arise. Your input is crucial to us and will help shape the final version of the game.

Players who wish to record or live stream their experience are free to do so, and we encourage you to share your clips with us in the Damned Discord!

Damned 2 Update - 0.3.2035

Hello everyone!

Today's update is all about the new Monster that arrived to haunt you. Mary!

Mary returns with similar abilities and new skills. She searches for lost dolls to detect invaders and reveals herself to them to gain energy. Once fully energized, she can go berserk to damn those who dare to invade her home.

Mary has a new type of energy, haunting energy that allows the transformation to the haunting form. It recharges over time while invisible, and depletes over time while haunting.
The haunting form makes Mary gain energy while looking at survivors, being near a survivor, or while a survivor looks at her.

Mary
  • Mind Snare skill can possess objects from afar but the skill has a cast time and a longer cooldown.
  • Mind Snare skill can pull survivors from afar while Mary is haunting.
  • Cursed Doll skill creates dolls around the map for Mary to pick and curse. Cursed Dolls are revealed when survivors look at them, but they can destroy them for temporary negative effects.
  • Blink skill teleports Mary while invisible and haunting.
  • Cry Out skill reveals survivors temporarily for a few seconds, increasing time based on the distance.
  • Mary has a passive ability that slams all doors around her when she starts haunting.

Damned 2 Update - 0.2.1939

Today's update is all about the two new puzzles and some under the hood modifications to pave the way for our new monster, Mary!

Patch Notes:

Content
  • Added two new puzzles: an Image Puzzle and a Figurine Puzzle.
  • Added full controller support, including navigation, keybinding, and interface adjustments.


Balance
  • Increased the number of puzzles from 2 to 3. The two new puzzles will appear in every game along with one of the original puzzles.
  • Increased the speed at which all doors and lids open.
  • Increased the speed that monsters open doors by 50%.
  • Modified the Pressure Puzzle’s valve to spawn in the same room where the puzzle appears. The last room will now always contain a Pressure Puzzle.


Visuals
  • Added red/green lights on top of the Fuse Box.
  • Increased the height of possessed books while rotating.


Interface
  • Added an option to select AI monsters.
  • Improved all interfaces related to button functionality.
  • Improved the text in all tutorials.
