Damned 2 Update - 0.5.2000

Hello Everyone!

We’ve been hard at work on exciting updates for Damned 2, and today's release brings fresh content, polished gameplay, and key improvements. Here's some of the Highlights:

Update Highlights

  • 3 New Maps: 4th Floor, Missing Warehouse, and Top Hill Restaurant.
  • New Puzzle: Laser Connection – Find prisms to divert the laser to its target while navigating map obstacles.
  • Survivor Upgrades: Lily and Lucas now have revamped 3D models and animations.

    Monster Updates
  • Mary: Reworked AI and Haunting abilities for more intense encounters.
  • Lurker: Adjusted hunting mechanics and movement speed.
  • New item mechanic: Survivors can now drop items from inventory.


And here's a sneak peek at what's coming next:

  • A new puzzle, currently in development.
  • Final 3D models are on the way for the remaining placeholder survivors (though Hudson will stay with us!).
  • We've resumed work on Blight's long-awaited design.

If this update proves stable, we’ll host a public playtest on Steam next week, which will be the final test before entering Early Access.

Monster Updates

Mary
  • Increased AI ground friction to match other characters.
  • Blink while Haunting now increases Mary's move speed for 0.7 seconds instead of teleporting.
Mental Trace changes:
  • No longer reverts Mary to her past position or forces her to transform back from haunting.
  • Prioritizes teleporting Mary to a survivor inside a Cursed Doll's vision.
  • Decreased teleport distance to a survivor inside Cursed Doll's vision by 50%.
  • Cursed Doll gives 1 haunt energy per second while a survivor is in vision.
  • Mary gains berserk energy when using Mind Reach on a survivor.
  • Increased very close distance to gain energy from 150 to 250.
  • Mary's cry while haunting now has a small range, and doors affected by haunting no longer emit audio.


Path Fork Changes
  • Keys can spawn randomly in rooms before puzzles.
  • Keys can appear in puzzle rooms.
  • Puzzles now open multiple doors or give multiple keys more often.
  • Safes can be empty.
  • Increased number of forks from 2 to 4.



Gameplay Changes
  • Survivors are pushed back by doors if a monster forces the door in their direction.
  • Survivors can now select an item to drop for others by holding TAB, similar to Cursed Doll creation.
  • Picked items now have a small animation towards the player.
  • All puzzles can now be the final puzzle.
  • Pressure puzzles can appear like other puzzles.
  • Removed Lost Valve game option.
  • Scattered Puzzles and Lost Puzzle Items game options affect the last puzzles.
  • Survivor flashlight light now snaps to the middle of the screen, reducing wobbling.
  • Decreased Fool's Trap life by 25%.
  • Removed Lurker music sound spatialization.
  • Lurker is now much quieter when starting hunting.
  • Decreased Lurker's Shadow Run bonus speed from 191 to 150.
  • Survivors don't pick duplicate Batteries or Pills dropped by dead survivors.
  • Monsters possess objects faster when more objects are available on the map.
  • Scattered Puzzle game option now uses puzzle parts from other rooms more often.

Damned 2 Update - 0.5.0068

Hi Everyone!

As we gear up for the Steam Halloween event, we're excited to release a new update that introduces the Black Lake Facility map! This is the first iteration of the map, and we're eager to hear your feedback on its overall gameplay experience.

Along with the new map, this update also brings several bug fixes, gameplay adjustments, and balance improvements.

Moving forward, our focus will be on replacing the current survivor models with the new, high-quality 3D models created by our partner, Art Daggers.

We’re also working on adding the new monster, Blight, along with fresh puzzles to the game soon. Stay tuned!

Damned 2 Update - 0.5.0014

Hello everyone!

Today's update brings a bit of everything—quality of life improvements, UI enhancements, new gameplay features, balance changes, bug fixes, and achievements! We also update the game engine to the latest version 5.4

When we introduced the idea of becoming a ghost after death, the goal was to give players something to do rather than just spectate, like in the original Damned. This patch adds a new mechanic for ghosts: you can now collect ghostly batteries, pills, and a Pump Inhaler to assist your living teammates. Just pick one up and aim at a survivor to use it.

Our localization system has also received a major overhaul. By popular demand, we’ve added Chinese, Russian and Spanish to the list of supported languages. However, please note that neither I nor Heliax speak these languages, so we relied on AI for the translations. We reviewed them by translating back to English and Portuguese to ensure clarity, but there might still be some errors. If you spot any mistakes, whether translation or formatting issues (like text overflow or strange characters), please let us know so we can fix them.

Additionally, we've added 38 achievements to the game, though they are currently locked. You can view them on Steam, and if you have any cool ideas for new achievements, feel free to share them with us on our Discord channel!

Changelog:

Ghost
  • Added new skill Spectral Aid. Ghosts can now find ghostly items around the map to aid the survivors. They can use the item by pointing at the survivor. Ghostly items can only be seen and picked by Ghosts.
  • Added new item Pump Inhaler. The item regenerates the stamina of the survivor very fast. The item is exclusive for Ghosts to find.
  • Improved ghost visual effects.
Gameplay
  • All lids of the game now lock the camera when moving them. You can still move them by moving your character.
  • Changed the last key name from "Key" to "Golden Key".
  • Increased negative time for destroying a doll from 2 to 3 seconds.
  • Improved character change transition.
  • Increased the distance variation that the AI appear from survivors.
Survivors
  • Increased the distance that survivors can see the revive point of another survivor.
Interface
  • Expanded the graphics settings menu.
  • Added Chinese, Spanish, and Russian language selections. Texts were automatically translated and will be improved as soon as possible. (Contact us if you want to help translate it.)
  • Changed the custom font to a similar font that has better readability and supports more characters making it possible to localize the game for any language.
  • Improved multiple interfaces to adapt to different sizes of texts of different languages.
  • Added more information about the lobbies listed in the Lobby Search menu.
  • Added more filters in the Lobby Search menu.
  • Added a new bar for Mary`s haunt energy.
  • Tooltip tutorials improved at the lobby and now save when you already see them.
  • Changed the name of the Random level selection from "Random" to "Random Map".

Damned 2 Update - 0.4.2166

Hi everyone!

Today we have the second patch following all the feedback gathered during our public playtest. This update focus on gameplay balance and some rework to Mary's gameplay along with optimizations and general bug fixing.

Changelog

Mary Rework:
  • Cry Out skill has been remade into Mental Trace. This new skill temporarily teleports Mary near a survivor to localize them and gain some energy. The cooldown remain the same, with a 4-second duration.
  • Mind Reach now pulls the nearest survivor, making it easier to use. It no longer goes on cooldown when possessing an object.
  • Haunting will no longer close doors directly in front of Mary.
  • Increased energy gain when a survivor is very close by 1200%.
  • Reduced transformation time from 2 seconds to 1 second.
  • Increased the distance of Blink while Haunting from 250 to 350 units.
  • Decreased the speed of Blink while Haunting by 30%.
  • Increased ground friction while walking by 14%.
  • Increased the number of possessable objects available when leaving Berserk mode by 75%.
  • Mary’s AI difficulty has been slightly increased.
  • Mary’s AI will only enter Berserk mode when a survivor is seen.
  • Destroying Dolls now grants 66% more energy.
  • Dolls now affect the survivor’s vision and speed for a few seconds when destroyed.
  • Mary’s music will only play for survivors when their actions impact her energy gain.
  • Increased passive energy regeneration while Haunting by 20%.
Lurker:
  • Removed all feedback of energy changes for survivors.
  • Increased the frequency at which the AI uses Shadow Dance at Normal and Hard difficulties.
  • Increased the stun duration of Fool's Trap from 0.5 seconds to 1 second.
  • Updated Prey Tracker and Ethereal Sense effects:
  • Ethereal Sense (Passive skill) now reduces a small amount of sanity when a survivor passes by while invisible.
  • Lurker loses half of his energy after hitting a survivor when only 1 survivor remains.
Balance Changes:
  • Improved monster vision when visible.
  • Reduced survivor downed time by 50% when only one survivor is alive.
  • Decreased the frequency of the Heart sanity effect by 50% and added an effect when sanity drops below 5%.
Interface:
  • Added the actual voice volume bar back.
  • Added a tutorial test in the lobby to help players find customization options.
  • The game will now return to the lobby after it ends.
  • The End Game interface button now sends everyone back to the lobby, while clients leave the game.
  • Added new visuals for the loading bar in-game.
  • The Subtitles option now turns off subtitles inside the game when pointing at objects.
  • Added a list of all seeds used in the Cheat Interface (Ctrl+F6).
Sound:
  • Changed the sound for Fool's Trap.
  • Adjusted the volume of some possessed object activations.
Game Options:
  • Changed game options Game Help "Low" and "No Help" to not display item names in the inventory.
  • Renamed the game option Puzzle Scatter to Scattered Puzzles.

Damned 2 Update - 0.4.2147

Hi everybody!

Today we have the first update since the Playtest. This one is kind of small in terms of features, but very impactful, mainly because of the fixes and improvements to the gameplay systems, such as voice chat and networking.

After that, we will be doing a gameplay overhaul for Mary. We have collected A LOT of feedback on Mary and will be improving her gameplay and abilities. Lurker seems to be in a good position, but some balancing will also affect him, as requested by our community.

A new level is still under construction and I will be able to release some screenshots soon. Since it is a completely new environment (not a hotel), it takes time to build it, mainly because I'm the only one working on it. I have become the bottleneck!

The new monster is also in progress, its mechanics and abilities are almost ready, but we have not tested it yet, and its 3D model is already in an advanced state. Matt Collins has already made some really cool music tracks for it. Oh! And new survivors are also on the horizon, the new 3D model for Lilly is amazing, I can't wait for you to see it. She inherited a bit of her mother's style ;).
