What have you done, Father? News

The most terifying thing

Hi everyone, and welcome back to my weekly announcements! I hope you’re all doing well and feeling happy.
[p][/p][p][/p][p]🟡 Last week, I told you the story behind why I put coffins in all my games — and why you always have to pry them open. Quite a story, wasn’t it? Thank you to everyone who joined my small Discord community. It truly means a lot to me![/p][p]Today, I’d like to talk a bit about what I want to achieve with my next game, for which I’ve already started sharing screenshots in these announcements.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]🟡 As you may already know, my games tend to lean toward psychological horror. This time, however, I’ve decided to explore a more confrontational and visceral direction. I’m thinking that combining visceral themes with psychological elements could result in something very powerful — especially if the game leans into a deeply depressive mood. And yes, this one will carry a strong, heavy atmosphere.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]🟡 Although it might seem edgy at first glance, the game I’m working on aims to explore oppressive themes such as self-harm, murder, dark intrusive thoughts, and spiritual struggle. I’m curious to see how all these elements will work together — especially when you add a spiritual layer to the mix. When mysticism enters someone’s life, things can escalate quickly, and the consequences can become unexpected. I keep asking myself: what if my character isn’t just depressed and struggling psychologically — what if he’s also possessed? What if the monsters born from his wounded mind begin to take shape with the help of something truly demonic? I think that idea alone is terrifying — not being able to tell whether what you’re seeing is just your imagination… or something far darker.[/p][p]🟡 What do you think?

[/p][p]🐱 Now, on a lighter note, I want to share something truly horrifying that I witness every day while working on this new project. Most of you only see the final version of a game — but have you ever wondered what it looks like behind the scenes?[/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p]Take a look at the screenshots below and despair. That’s what I see while implementing gameplay, making cinematics, and adding effects. It’s chaos![/p][p]That’s all for this week. Stay tuned for more, and don’t forget to join the community![/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p]
⚠️ P.S.
You may have noticed that my posts are also appearing in Japanese. I decided to try something new after noticing that a few Japanese players were interested in my projects and even shared them with their friends. That made me curious about localization — so I’ve started translating my announcements and even created a dedicated channel on my Discord server for our Japanese friends.[/p][p]At the moment, I’m using AI to translate my messages, but if this grows and more people gather around, I’m more than willing to invest further into proper localization. Some friends of mine have even told me that my new game, in particular, might resonate well with Asian audiences.

COFFINS - why?
WHY COFFINS???
[p][/p][p]🟡 As promised in the last update, I want to explain why opening a coffin is something you do in all my games and the story behind, along with a few new screenshots from a scene I’m currently working on.[/p][p][/p][p]
🟡 This might sound like a story from Mr. Ballen, but here it is.[/p][p]I have a friend — or rather, someone close to me — a family man and seemingly a good Christian, who always felt uneasy about my games and my dark/edgy personality. Not disgust, but discomfort with dark themes, borderline blasphemy, death, and violence. I used to tease him with morbid jokes until one day he opened up and told me something genuinely disturbing.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]He once attended the wake of his best friend’s father. The body wasn’t displayed in a small chapel, but in a large building in the middle of the cemetery. Because it’s old and busy, multiple funerals happen daily, meaning multiple bodies are displayed in the same room. The coffins are propped at an angle in what looks like a cooling structure, lit by spotlights. Families — often more than one at a time — walk in, look up at their loved ones, and mourn together. I’ve seen that room once in my life, and I can’t forget it.[/p][p] [/p][p]That night, my friend stayed over with the deceased’s son, partly so he wouldn’t be alone. At some point, out of boredom or morbid curiosity, they began looking at the other bodies displayed nearby. Among all those coffins, there was one different from the rest: a small, child-sized coffin, and unlike the others, it was closed. I still don’t know what got into my “good Christian” friend, but he and his friend became fixated on it and tried to pry it open. He told me how excited and pumped he felt, almost like there was an unholly spirit around them, completely forgetting where he was.[/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p]Then, mid-story, he stopped talking. I tried to get the rest out of him — whether they opened it or not — but he never said another word. In a disturbing way, the trance he told that story transferred to me. I felt the same curiosity, the same urge to know what was inside. To this day, I don’t know how the story ended. Maybe one day he’ll tell me the rest.[/p][p][/p][p]What surprised me most was the irony: a man who once tried to open a coffin later telling me that what I do “isn’t something a good Christian would do.” That story left a deep impression on me, and out of morbid curiosity, I’ve put coffins you must open in all my games — and there’s always a surprise inside.[/p][p][/p][p] [/p][p]Enjoy the new screenshots, and stay close for more progress.

A NEW NIGHTMARE
Are you ready for more?
[p][/p][p][/p][p]🟡 First of all, I want to thank you for the engagement on my previous post. I honestly wasn’t expecting so many people to be active after more than a year of silence — so thank you again![/p][p]🟡 Naturally, this motivates me to start posting here more often. I hope I’ll keep my word, even though I admit my relationship with social media and consistent posting has always been… complicated. That said, today I feel inspired — and more importantly, I finally have more to show you from the new project I’m working on.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
About the upcoming game
[p]🟡 If you’re wondering what the game is called, I’ll keep that top secret for now. Steam has a habit of moving new game announcements into obscure corners where they get buried forever, so I’d rather be cautious for now.[/p][p]🟡 That said, below you’ll find new screenshots from the game — locations I’ve already completed and fully implemented with gameplay.[/p][p]🟡 This project leans toward a fever-dream atmosphere with depressing undertones. It started mostly as a horror game, but recent personal experiences pushed me to give it a more intimate, personal touch. Nothing extreme — just something closer to my heart. As you know, artists tend to pour what’s buried inside them into their work, and I’m doing the same here.[/p]
What to expect
[p]🟡 I’m not trying to reinvent anything with this game. It will be what you expect from me:[/p]
 • [p]Religious elements[/p]
 • [p]Inner struggle[/p]
 • [p]Claustrophobic environments[/p]
 • [p]Heavy themes[/p]
[p]🟡 Unfortunately, there are no priests in this one — yes, this will be my first game without clerics.[/p][p]🟡 On the technical side, expect a much more polished quality-of-life experience. I’m collaborating again with my friend GrimTalin, with whom I released Last Days of Lazarus. Unlike What Have You Done, Father?, this game will feature:[/p]
 • [p]Fully functional menus and settings[/p]
 • [p]Controller support[/p]
 • [p]Several localizations[/p]
 • [p]Systems that actually work properly[/p]
[p]🟡 And yes… as in all my games, there will be a coffin you must open. If you want to know the full story behind my obsession with coffins, stick around for the next announcement. Trust me — it’s a juicy one, and you’ll love it.

WHAT GAME IS THIS???
Hello everyone!

[p]I know I’ve been absent for a while, though not inactive.[/p][p]🟡 2025 has been one of the hardest years of my life on a personal level, but I used that time to fight back and explore new game ideas that fit my artistic style.
🟡 From cozy painting sims to weird, brain-rot freak-show concepts, most of them ended up in the drawer, as they didn’t quite feel like my signature.[/p][p][/p]

What’s new?
[p][/p][p]🟡 I can now confirm that I’m actively working on a new project, and there’s already solid progress.
Don’t expect a huge, years-long game—think smaller scope, similar to WHYDF.[/p][p]• This one leans into a depressing, somber tone, which I believe will be its main strength.[/p][p]So far, I’ve:[/p]
 • [p]Designed and animated the characters[/p]
 • [p]Written the story[/p]
 • [p]Implemented core mechanics[/p]

What’s next?
[p][/p][p]🟡 I’m not ready to share the project’s name yet, but I’ll soon start showing behind-the-scenes sneak peeks.
The big reveal isn’t far away.[/p][p]Thank you all for your patience and support. Making games is hard, and your reviews and kind words mean a lot to me.[/p][p][/p]
New Game Ideas
🎮 First off, I’ve been playing around with some new game ideas, and honestly, they’re amazing. They fit perfectly into my universe, and I can’t wait to explore them further and share them with you. For now, let's just say that I already have a steam page for one of them ! You'll be the first to know when it goes public! ːsteamhappyː
10 Years of Indie Game Development!
🎉 That’s right—I’ve been making games for 10 years now! Crazy, right? To celebrate, I’ve decided to take a big leap and invest in something I’ve wanted for a long time — a motion capture kit ! This is probably one of the biggest (and most expensive) decisions I’ve made in years, apart from starting my indie projects with little to no budget. But I think it’s worth it. I want to bring my characters to life in a whole new way, and this is going to help me do that.
A Game You Need to Check Out: The End of the Sun
🎮 If you loved Gray Dawn and want another immersive experience, you have to try The End of the Sun. It's just been released and they really need your support! It’s made by two super passionate devs from Poland, and I’ve been following their progress for a while now. I remember seeing it back when I was working on Gray Dawn and said "Hey, I love this, it reminds me of the fairytales i've read in my childhood"

This game is crazy and is packed with Eastern European vibes, and you can really see the love and effort they put into it. They restored an old table just to use in the game, traveled around to scan real log houses, and even hand-painted their logo using burnt coal and red paint. They composed the music, created an insane amount of 3d models when nowadays there are libraries with tons of scans. That’s the kind of dedication I respect.

And of course, you can get a glimpse of it from thescreenshots in this post.
If you are intrigued, go check out their game !
Thanks for Being Here
That’s it for now, but there’s more to come. Thanks for sticking around, and stay tuned for the next update!
